Different passes for the festival and the markets
IDFA offers documentary professionals a variety of passes that provide access to the festival and IDFA’s markets: Docs for Sale, the FORUM for co-financing international documentaries, and IDFAcademy, a training program for young filmmakers.

Guest services will confirm the type of pass you are eligible for and send an invoice for any fees that you may incur. All passes are non-transferable.

Detailed guidelines:

IDFA – Festival Guest Pass (€210, - excl. 6% VAT)
Available to all documentary professionals.
The pass offers access to:

  • all regular IDFA screenings (obtain a free ticket at the guest box office)
  • all industry screenings*
  • all music documentaries plus concert at the discount price; tickets can be purchased from the Guest Box Office
  • the talk shows, debates and other secondary programming
  • Meet the Makers (with a free ticket*)
  • industry panels
  • the daily Guests Meet Guests
  • the awards ceremony and awards party (a ticket can be obtained from the Guest Box Office from 24 November) 
  • the writing room with laptops and internet access; this room is located at Brasserie Schiller, Rembrandtplein 26 
  • the services of the First Aid Clinic on the first floor of the Schiller Hotel 
  • free program guide, festival catalogue and Industry guide
  • possibility to purchase tickets online (ticket price €5)

If you have been invited to the festival, you are exempt from the €210 (excl. 6% VAT) fee and only need to pay an administration fee of €75 (excl. 6% VAT). Any producer or director whose film has been included in the IDFA program will receive a free Guest Pass.

IDFA – Festival Pass Light (€100,- excl. 6% VAT)
Available to all documentary professionals.
The pass offers access to: 

  • all the industry screenings*
  • the industry panels, talk shows and other secondary programming
  • all music documentaries plus concert at the discount price; tickets can be purchased from the Guest Box Office
  • the daily Guests Meet Guests
  • program guide, festival catalogue and industry guide
  • tickets for regular screenings and Meet the Makers purchased online or from the Guest Box Office at a discount price of €7,50 per ticket (one ticket per screening per pass)
  • possibility to buy tickets online (ticket price €7,50)

IDFA Press Pass (€40,- excl. 6% VAT) 
Available to journalists from various branches of media, including newspapers and magazines, online media, radio and television. In order to grant press accreditation, IDFA needs to receive information on the medium you report for, a description of your intentions at IDFA, and one of your recent publications.
The pass offers access to:

  • all regular IDFA screenings and Meet the Makers (obtain a free ticket at the guest box office)
  • all the industry screenings*
  • all music documentaries plus concert at the discount price; tickets can be purchased from the Guest Box Office
  • the industry panels, talk shows and other secondary programming
  • one of the six press viewing booths at Docs for Sale, located in Arti en Amicitiae
  • the daily Guests Meet Guests
  • the awards ceremony and awards party (a ticket can be obtained from the Guest Box Office from 24 November)

IDFAcademy Pass (€180,- excl. 6% VAT)
IDFAcademy (November 18 – 20) is open to a maximum of 150 graduating film students and young professionals. This fee is only valid if the pass is picked up before Friday, November 19 at 12 pm.
The pass offers access to:

  • the kick off day Meet the Participant (Thursday November 17)
  • the official three-day academy program (November 18-20)
  • all regular IDFA screenings and Meet the Makers; obtain a free ticket at the Guest Box Office
  • all industry screenings*
  • all music documentaries plus concert at the discount price; tickets can be purchased from the Guest Box Office
  • the industry panels, talk shows and other secondary programming
  • the services of the First Aid Clinic on the first floor of the Schiller Hotel 
  • the daily Guests meet Guests
  • the awards ceremony and awards party (a ticket can be obtained from the Guest Box Office from 24 November)

Group accreditations for film schools are allowed, but each applicant should register individually.

The FORUM Pass
There are four different FORUM passes that provide access to the three-day FORUM for co-financing international documentaries. Availability is dependent on your profession and the potential presentation of a selected project at the FORUM. The selection procedure only allows for 450 invitees.
The pass offers access to:

  • Access to the three-day FORUM for co-financing international documentaries
  • Access to the FORUM opening reception
  • Access to the FORUM lunches during the FORUM days
  • Access to all IDFA screenings (obtain a free ticket at the guest box office)
  • Access to all industry screenings*
  • Access to industry panels
  • Access to the talk shows and debates
  • Meet the Makers (with a free ticket*)
  • Access to the daily Guests meet Guests cocktail hour
  • Access to the closing ceremony
  • Festival publications: program guide, festival catalogue and industry guide
  • All FORUM publications and EDN financing guide 2011
  • Possibility to purchase tickets online (ticket price €5)

The FORUM passes are offered to four different professional groups.

1. Producers and directors with project

The project pitching fee includes admission for two project representatives. Producers and directors with a selected FORUM project are eligible for this pass (a maximum of two people per project).
2. Commissioning editors/broadcasters (no fee)
Commissioning editors with or without an officially pitched project are eligible for this pass.
3. Other financiers and film professionals (€310 excl. 19% VAT)
Distributors, sales agents, film funds, film institutes, NGO’s and similar organizations can register as “other financier”. The “other film professional” category is reserved for film festivals, markets, MEDIA Desks and other promotional organizations.
4. Observers (€310 excl. 19% VAT)
Producers without a selected project at the FORUM can apply for an observer seat. A company profile is required at the time of accreditation.

Guest services will inform you before 3 November if your request will be honoured.

Docs for Sale
The Docs for Sale market is located in the stylish Arti et Amicitiae art society. It offers networking opportunities and 60 video booths for buyers and programmers to screen the 500 selected documentaries. Docs for Sale offers two types of passes. In order to gain access to the IDFA festival screenings or the FORUM, you need a Docs for Sale pass as well as an IDFA or FORUM pass.

Docs for Sale Acquisition Pass (€150 excl. 19% VAT)
Available to TV buyers, distributors, festival programmers and cultural organizations.

The pass offers:

  • Access to the online catalogue of Docs for Sale (one-year subscription)
  • Access to onsite video booths (reservation is necessary)
  • Access to Docs for Sale lobby and Arti et Amicitiae café
  • Access to the daily Docs for Sale Happy Hour
  • Access to the daily Guests meet Guests
  • Access to all industry screenings*
  • Access to industry panels
  • Docs for Sale catalogue and industry guide

Docs for Sale Participant’s Pass
Available for representatives (producer, director or sales agent) of a film selected for Docs for Sale (one representative per film). A second Docs for Sale Participant’s Pass can be bought for €60 excl. 19% VAT.

The pass offers:

  • Access to Docs for Sale lobby and Arti et Amicitiae café
  • Access to the daily Docs for Sale Happy Hour
  • Access to the daily Guests meet Guests
  • Access to industry panels
  • Access to the services of the industry office
  • Docs for Sale catalogue and industry guide

*No tickets needed, first-come, first-served. The industry screening program consists of screenings of all films in competition and incidental Reflecting Images premieres that will be shown in the regular festival theatres. The industry screenings are programmed from Friday 18 November - Wednesday 23 November.

Tickets for screenings
For all regular screenings, debates and master classes, a pass holder still needs to obtain a free ticket at the special Guest Box Office. Industry screenings are accessible with your IDFA Guest Pass, FORUM Pass, IDFAcademy Pass, or Press Pass.

Accreditation form: MyIDFA
Registration and accreditation takes place via MyIDFA, our online registration system. You can use the same login code you used last year. If you’ve forgotten your password, please click on “forgot your password” in MyIDFA. You can find the accreditation form here. Please submit the completed accreditation form and upload a digital passport photo (JPEG) in the upload section of MyIDFA. Guest Services is fully operational as of 16 August.

General information
Registration after the deadline of October 10 means that processing of your forms may take longer as well as listing on our online Guest list.

Cancellations
If you need to cancel, please notify us as soon as possible. It is only possible to cancel in writing. For further information, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
