When asked what she would like to do within a space that revolves around documentary art, renowned Iranian photographer and Magnum member Newsha Tavakolian expressed her desire to present a film program focusing on the work of Magnum icons Susan Meiselas and Larry Towell.
''When I was invited to curate a film night, I immediately thought of Magnum Photographers who have used film as a parallel medium to tell compelling stories about their subject matters. Naturally, the first names that came to mind were Susan Meiselas and Larry Towell. Their dedication to storytelling over the past 50 years is truly inspiring and a significant contribution to visual documentation worldwide, and their work serves as a testament to the power of visual language. Their films will undoubtedlyprovide a rich and engaging experience.’’
This remarkable program will screen Pictures from a Revolution (1991) by Alfred Guzzetti, Susan Meiselas, Richard P. Rogers and The Man I Left Behind (2023) by Hubert Hayaud, Matthieu Rytzaand Larry Towell. Both films are introduced by Newsha Tavakolian.

Tavakolian highlights women's challenges and conflict aftermaths, blending artistry with documentary. Awarded internationally, her work is in major collections like the Victoria & Albert Museum and LACMA.
