To close out Women's History Month on a powerful note, OneWorld Movie Night screens the film Writing Hawa (2024), a poignant tribute to the resilience of women's independence, will be shown this month. The stories, aspirations and visions of elderly mothers in conflict zones such as Afghanistan rarely get the attention they deserve. It is therefore particularly fitting that director Najiba Noori has chosen her own mother, Hawa, to lead the film, giving us her perspective on women's rights, the Taliban takeover and her own dreams.
The screening will be followed by a conversation with artist and curator Narges Mohammadi.
