Een vader om nooit te vergeten
When Nick was almost five, his father committed suicide. Nick is 13 now. When he closes his eyes, he can usually call his dad to mind, but it keeps getting harder: the image is fading. Nick is afraid he will forget him and he doesn't want to. With this film, Nick plans to record everything he still remembers and wants to know about his father. Photos, home videos and visits to places where they went together help Nick create an enduring memory of his father and get to know him even better. Every year, around twice as many people die at their own hands as they do in car accidents. To the filmmaker, Charlotte Hoogakker, these figures also came as a surprise when her mother took her own life five years back.
This film is a result of the Kids & Docs workshop.
