Festival history

A man on the beach is looking for some unidentified things. Among the rocks and sand dunes, he forages for half-concealed objects that lie waiting for him. Back home, they turn out to be skulls, the remains from which our intrepid searcher, Harry van Tussenbroek, puts together dolls. Not blue-eyed dolls intended to keep the children quiet, but frighteningly strange dolls, adorned with feathers, lace and crab’s legs. Ingeniously crafted, they are stacked inside his house, waiting for what is to come. In the midnight hours, the dolls come to life and a battle between good and evil is waged once again. In a lively and terrifying way, the filmmaker displays his puppets, whose interplay with light and dark is highly impressive. Their noctural dance is both graceful and intriguing. Dramatically lit, the dolls drag the spectator into their world.
