Big Characters

On Google Maps from ten kilometers above the unpopulated westerly region of the Gobi desert, it’s possible to see thirty huge Chinese characters and an exclamation mark etched in to the vast desert. These characters, each fifty meters long, stretching out over seventy-five thousand square meters spell out the poems of Chairman Mao. How did these characters appear in the desolate and uninhabited Gobi? Who was responsible for creating them? This documentary will take you on a journey to reveal the secrets of those characters and how they came into existence.
