1 Giant Leap
In 1999, Jamie Catto, filmmaker and founding member of Faithless and artist/producer Duncan Bridgeman, joined forces to create 1 GIANT LEAP. They embarked upon a global journey that included Senegal, Ghana, South Africa, Uganda, India, Thailand, Australia, New Zealand, United States and United Kingdom, equipped only with laptop computers, a digital video camera, and a vision. Their vision was to capture and share with others the unique fusion of sound, image and spoken word from some of the world's most influential artists and musicians such as Neneh Cherry, Michael Stipe, Dennis Hopper, Asha Bhosle, Kurt Vonnegut and Baaba Maal. The result, twelve breathtaking songs, interviews and some extraordinary footage from which the duo created these chapters, each exploring a common global theme like faith, death, culture, sex and more. As the directors said themselves: "We want to show, through the diverse fragments of music, spoken word and imagery, that despite our surface level differences, the things that divide us are far outnumbered by the humanity that unites us."
