QUE LEVANTE LA MANO LA GUITARRA owes its existence to the intimate and long-time friendship between director Victor Casaus and singer/composer Silvio Rodriguez, who is portrayed in this documentary. Rodriguez is considered to be the major representative of the new Latin-American song. The film includes archive footage and pictures that are shown for the first time. Songs, interviews, and dialogues present Rodriguez' work as being innovative and committed. QUE LEVANTE LA MANO LA GUITARRA partly consists of a concert in La Casa de las Américas, which had been organized especially for this film.
