Once Aurora
The Norwegian singer and songwriter Aurora Aksnes was discovered at the age of 16, when a video of her singing one of her own songs went viral. Her life changed completely: the somewhat eccentric and reclusive girl who grew up in a small town in the Norwegian countryside rapidly became the pop idol Aurora, with fans all over the world.
Once Aurora follows her over a period of two years as she tours the world with her debut album and works with her producers on a follow-up. In 2016, after 200 concerts and halfway through the tour, she seems exhausted and desperate. There are conflicts, and the endless meet-and-greets with the fans are an ordeal for her. The intimate camerawork and the dynamic and fragmented editing style reflect her hectic life and inner struggle. The film becomes not only a portrait of a lightning musical career and an overwhelming passion for music, but also a story about creative freedom and the price of fame.
