China
It’s a story about an unschooled 12-year old girl Yijie whose family lives on recycling plastic wastes. She’s a truly global child who learns the world through the United Nations of waste. Going to school is all she wants. China becomes the largest importer of plastic waste globally. Through telling Yijie’s story, we explores how these wastes being recycled by the bare hands of families, and finds their choices of trading body and soul for superficial prosperity. It also observes how the living style in one world could define the lives in the other in a most unimaginable way.
