Dutch contribution to the European Broadcasting Union series ‘The day I decided…‘.Once in a while, every child wishes he or she would live in another neighbourhood or have another father or brother. Tatjana’s mother is suffering from a brain disease, which is why she is unable to walk and cannot speak well, either. Tatjana feels ashamed that her mother is so ill. They quarrel quite a lot. She does not want this mother, she wants a normal, healthy mother, just like all other children. A mother who wears jeans, comes to watch her daughter ride a horse and picks her up from school. This summer, the family lives under great pressure, because father is starting his own place on the beach. During the opening ceremony, Tatjana celebrates the decision she has taken earlier on: ‘Mom, I’m gonna stay with you.‘
