Identity
Dramatised documentary about the world of advertising. The film follows a cynical director of an advertising agency. In seemingly authentic scenes we see him at work, at home and in negotiations with his clients. Opposite this unscrupulous person the film sets his creative partner, who tries to preserve his integrity. The film presents a provocative description of a profession in which ethical considerations are secondary to making money. The director's partner observes that advertising people are in the same position as journalists under Mussolini. The film made the feathers fly in the Dutch advertising world, which accused Vrijman of giving "a wrong impression" of the trade. The filmmaker called his film "an investigation into the identity of advertising and the publicity agent".
