Musiques de films: Georges Delerue
Jean-Louis Comolli
France
1995
60 min
Jean-Louis Comolli directed this portrait of French film composer Georges Delerue as part of a series of TV-documentaries for ARTE: musiques de films. Delerue did the soundtrack for many nouvelle vague films, like jules et jim and le m‚pris. He also worked for American directors like Ken Russell and Oliver Stone, for whom he composed the music for the film salvador, among others. Georges Delerue does not waste words in this film. In addition to interviews with, for example, Oliver Stone and several technicians that cooperated with Delerue, he is mainly portrayed in view of his music. The film contains a lot of footage from feature films which illustrates how image and soundtrack should be tuned to one another.
