Festival history

ANNA: 6-18 is the first documentary by Russian author and director Nikita Mikhalkov, maker of feature films like OCI CIORNIE, URGA and recently SOLEIL TROMPEUR (BURNT BY THE SUN). Michalkov comes from a family of artists: both of his parents were writers, his brother is movie director Andrej Konchalovsky. To make this highly personal documentary, Mikhalkov followed his daughter Anna for twelve years. He asked her for her dreams and ideals, but also for her reaction to social and political events. Home movies are supplemented with fragments from TV newscasts and current affairs programmes. In this way, a retrospective of the recent history of Russia and a hopeful vision of its future emerge.
