The International Singing Star, Leo Fuld
Singer-songwriter Leo Fuld, who is called the last performer of the Yiddish popular ballad, has descended on Amsterdam after an extended international career. Fuld, married three times, cosmopolitan from the time he was fifteen years old, harvested success all over the world with his hit record 'Where can I go'. He recorded dozens of records, performed with many wellknown artists and was the owner of the Sahbra, an Israeli nightclub and adjoining restaurant in New York, for ten years. During World War II, while Fuld was living in the U.S., he last nearly his entire family. Until this day he is not able to discuss that topic with his remaining sister and nieces. In his simple apartment in Amsterdam, the 81-year old singer is still writing songs every day. Spinoza, the Kabbalah and Aristoteles lend him support. He feels all but lonely: "I never get tired of my own company".
