Festival history

In her first film PARKSIDE GIRLS young Danish director Mia Engberg has filmed the stories of three women who moved to New York, hoping to make it to the top in show business. But instead of taking a suite in The Ritz, they have to settle for a bed in the Parkside Residence, just like hundreds of other women and a few Salvation Army soldiers. Engberg edited the interviews she did with the women next to each other by means of a split screen. When one stops speaking, the other seems to finish her sentence or interrupt her. Confident that eventually they will have success, they tell about the auditions, the waiting, the competition and the loneliness. As one of them says: "Even if I don't become famous or even semi-famous, I just hope that at 65 I'm not living in this room".
