Rock 'n Roll Junkie
Holland's only real rock 'n roll star Herman Brood cannot complain about the amount of publicity he gets. Whatever he does, there is always a camera around to record it. Addicted to attention, Brood, the phenomenon, never acts out of character. At times he has a short breakdown but he always scrambles to his feet, in spite of a daily portion of drugs anyone else would long have succumbed to. Speed, art, women, and of course a lot of music are the main ingredients of ROCK 'N ROLL JUNKIE. For one year, the four filmmakers followed their childhood idol, going from big shows to a quiet moment with his little daughter. Scenes from Brood's life alternate with interviews. From his mother to his manager, everyone knows an anecdote about Herman. Thirty hours of footage was cut down to a film of one hour and a half: portrait of an artist.
