SOS à Téhéran
The Iranian director Sou Abadi reveals new tendencies in the society around her. Homeless women and women experiencing family problems are being helped and sheltered in professional centres, where both men and women also attend sexual education meetings. Made in the style of an observer who tries not to disturb the processes that are taking place, the film enables the audience to better understand the needs of the inhabitans of Tehran. Young girls stand up for themselves – they want to listen to their music, wear the clothes they like and go out. Women who are thrown out by their husbands do not want to go back, but want to find work. Although made in a rather traditional manner, this documentary is the type of film which might make a difference by prompting people to seek professional help.
