Festival history

Between 2001 and 2010, the number of Afghan girls allowed to attend school increased exponentialy: from 5,000 to 2.4 million. A young girl tells us that she would also like to go to school, to become an engineer or a teacher, but that her father is making her herd the sheep. This film is part of Why Poverty?, a groundbreaking cross-media event taking place in November 2012, urging people around the world to ask this question. Supported by 70 broadcasters around the world, the event aims to jump-start national and global debates about poverty in the 21st century.
