Les bucherons de la Manouane
The Lumberjacks of Manouane
Arthur Lamothe
Canada
1962
A typical feature of the Canadian landscape are the enormous paper mills situated on river estuaries, employing skilled personnel and producing huge quantities of paper.
Little is known about the lumberjacks who work upstream in extremely difficult conditions. A film crew followed a few of these lumberjacks and despite the isolated nature of their work the film shows there is still a place for friendship.
