What would Holland look like from the point-of-view of the eyes of the water? Bert Haanstra shoots from a surprising perspective in this inverted documentary about the Netherlands. The reflections in the water are our guideline, in which both cityscapes and rural scenes move by. Haanstra seems to be making a boat trip across Holland with his camera, given the church towers, pastoral impressions and sailing scenes rippling past. Haanstra, still on the threshold of his career here, reveals to the public for the first time his immense capabilities. Some images may be a little unsteady, but the atmospherics make it easy to evoke the ambiance of life above the surface.
