Pourvu qu'on ait l'ivresse is set at a 'bal populaire', where young people go out dancing on Sundays. The main character is a young man who is not very successful in finding a partner. He is refused a dance by every girl he approaches. When a crowd of drunken people arrives, he takes the opportunity to put on a mask, after which he is not rejected any more. Pollet gives us an image of loneliness full of black humour.
