Last of the Mohicans
Haven’t got enough to pay for your shopping? No problem, because at Tonny’s mobile supermarket you can always pay next time. Tonny puts her heart and soul into her company in the Dutch city of Tilburg, helping the needy keep their head above water. Truth is, though, that Tonny needs that help as much as they do. But she’s not going to let that stop her.
Nonetheless, her accountant is concerned. Tonny took out a big loan to buy her van, and she’s hardly able to make a dent in the debt with her income from the shop. Her days are long and stressful because there are people all over the neighborhood depending on her. It’s quite a challenge for her to stay the committed and patient woman she means to be.
And although she doesn’t always succeed in this moving portrait by Max Ploeg, Tonny’s lesser moments are
always followed by a new boost of optimism. It’s heartwarming and inspiring, even
more so once we learn about the wretched past she has overcome.
