The Last Days of the Last Tsar
Nicholas II, Russia's last tsar, was deported to Siberia on the eve of the revolution. In july 1918 he was executed together with his family in the city of Ekaterinburg. The last days of the last tsar tell the story of the pointless killing of the Romanovs, in relation to the communist terror that would follow. This dramatized documentary is a footage, including fragments from the KGB archives and the Museum for the Revolution that have never been shown before. Those historical recordings feature Rasputin, Kerensky, Lenin, Trotsky and Sverdlov, and others. Further important sources have been the tsar's diaries and correspondence. The filmwas shot at the original locations, in St.Petersburg and Ekaterinburg. In the latter, the first screening of the film caused a massive, impromptu commemoration at the house where the Romanovs were killed.
