Diceworld
Take a dice. Think of three things you would like to do, but do not get around to. Like learning to play the piano, doing parachuting or writing a book. If you throw 1, 2 or 3 you do one of these things, in the case of 4, 5 or 6 you do none of them. This is how ‘The Dice Man‘ lives, a character in the cult best-seller of the same name by Luke Rhinehart from 1971. In many respects, author and character overlap; in the book, The Dice Man’s real name is Luke Rhinehart. According to Rhinehart, coincidence brings out our different personalities by one roll of the dice. DICEWORLD consists of three parts. In the first part, the technique is explained. Next, fans describe their experiences; for most of them, the dice are chiefly an excuse for doing something bad or scary. The last part looks at Rhinehart himself, at his marriage and the critical reactions from his wife - whom he met after a throw of the dice.
