The chronicle of the 'Children of Golzow' is the story of a schoolclass that started in Golzow in the GDR in 1961, a few days after the construction of the Berlin Wall. They attracted international attention with the film LEBENSLÄUFE (1980/81). Until now, nine films have been made about the people in the class. DREHBUCH: DIE ZEITEN is the tenth, which reports from the film workshop and shows discussions with the middle-aged inhabitants of Golzow after the German unification. The film depicts the development of this generation in different periods, but also dilates upon their parents' and children's lives, the city, agriculture, and the history of the scenery of the Oder marshlands. This chronicle, which has been running for over 30 years, is the oldest long-term observation in film history, and in itself a piece of DEFA-documentary history.
