Young Lions
Seen superficially, since the abolition of apartheid in South Africa, the country is a healthy democracy where nothing can obstruct development and prosperity. After two years of testimonies before the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, many people have awakened to the excrescences and cruelties of apartheid. This film is a search for the consequences of that long period of violence and oppression for the people who were daily affected by it. The makers follow three men who, in the mid-eighties, when the popular uprising against the white regime was at its fiercest, joined the black struggle. In this period, they were part of the hard core of insurgents, the young lions. The atrocities they witnessed have robbed them of their youth. They have survived the battle, but they bear the scars of those years forever in their hearts.
