Amsterdam, 1966. Jan Wolkers has just made a passionate speech to open a photo exhibition which is about police conduct following the wedding ceremony of Princess Beatrix and Claus von Amsberg. On leaving the meeting, the audience is surprised by the presence of policemen equipped with whips and truncheons. The subsequent police actions are registered by filmmaker Louis van Gasteren, present with his camera. A young psychology student, Bob Bermond, is roughly assaulted while walking to retrieve his bicycle. By using repetition and slow-motion, Van Gasteren illustrates his opinion of Amsterdam’s ‘finest’.
