This film deals with the phenomenon of religious syncretism, i.e. the fusion of Roman Catholicism with the African religions on Cuba. The inhabitants of Regla, a suburb of Havana, are interviewed. The film discusses the origin, development, and current state of affairs regarding the cult of the Holy Virgin of Regla or Yemaya, as the adherents of the AfroCuban religions Santería and Ochoa call her. Besides, SYNCRETISM examines the presentday religious situation on Cuba.
