Tracing Aleida
The Mexican Aleida never knew her parents. At the age of two, she was separated from them and raised by others. It was the time of the 'dirty war' in Mexico, during which numerous opponents of the regime were rounded up, tortured and murdered. Now, some 30 years later, Aleida has found several relatives thanks to a magazine article, but her parents' fate is still a mystery. This film follows Aleida during her search for information about what happened to her parents and her brother, who is two years her senior and disappeared on the same day in 1975. She searches through archives and makes an urgent appeal on TV. Her suspicion that he is unaware of his own adoption is confirmed when she finds him living in Washington. The film focuses on her quest, which culminates in a meeting between brother and sister.
