Festival history

DREAMING NICARAGUA is a quixotic multi-character film that features children under extreme poverty throughout Nicaragua sharing insights into their everyday lives and dreams for the future. DREAMING NICARAGUA explores the critical issues like child labor and domestic violence, all through the prism of the Nicaraguan children's own perspectives. The film takes place in a traveling ART-CLASS, where children express themselves through their paintings: the starting point to get to know their complex realities. Through their innocence and highly imaginative perception, we dive in a tragicomic experience of hope.
