Festival history

Aging affects everyone. We all must face it, but rarely do we ask ourselves the most basic questions: What is aging? Why do we age? Why do we live 80 years instead of 100 or 1000? Can aging be cured? This programme responds to the growing public curiosity about current aging research not sensational, pseudo-science, but serious science. A series of recent discoveries has moved aging research from scientific margins to an exploding area of contemporary biology. There is no consensus now in science as to what causes aging, and the question is being attacked on many fronts. But for the first time, the fundamental molecular mechanisms are beginning to be understood. Stylistically, ‘The Life and Times of Life and Times’ blends traditional science documentary with poetic essay, using several distinct types of imagery.
