Ofrenda de primavera

With great devotion the members of the ‘Cofradía Jesus El Rico y Maria Santissima Del Amor’ prepare for their procession, one of 36 processions that parade through the streets of the Spanish city of Malaga during the Holy Week. As the only brotherhood in the world the ‘Jesus El Rico’ has the privilege to release a prisoner as part of the procession. First, the prison board and the brotherhood submit their list of preferences, with eight names, to the Minister of Justice in Madrid in January, and at the start of the Holy Week three prisoners are informed that they are the chosen ones. Only one of them will actually leave the prison on Holy Wednesday. In their cells the three candidates tell about their crimes and their life as inmates. Meanwhile they speculate on their chances of being released.
