Festival history

An immersion in a dizzying sequence of impressions that follow the development of the universe and the course of evolution, from the Big Bang to modern day. A live simulation combines simple, immediately recognizable models of animals and objects in a complex, constantly evolving stream of geometric shapes. The result is a meditative experience that feels both abstract and familiar. Creator David OReilly previously made the pioneering game Everything, an attempt to offer a coherent overview of—well, everything. In Eye of the Dream, he builds on this experience and the digital models he created for it, but on an even grander scale. He produces an image of the universe as a collection of separate yet mutually independent elements.

This piece is part of the “The New Infinity” programme, co-produced with Berliner Festspiele / Immersion and the Planetarium Hamburg.
