Swok! - Western Riding

In VPRO’s children’s programme SWOK!, Ingeborg Jansen talks with children about their favourite sport. The episode WESTERN RIDING introduces two sisters, real ‘cow girls’, who love horses and ‘western riding’. This is a form of horse riding that has been copied from cowboys: with loose reins, a large saddle and a different kind of cloth.Every day, they spend some time at the riding school, where they groom their horses and watch their mother, who is even better at riding than they are. Horse riding is so much fun, the sisters think¸ that once they are on a horse, they would like to stay on forever. Once she is older, the elder sister wants to enter the competition, just like her mother. A year ago, her horse fell ill and had to be put to sleep. After that, it was hard for a while to get used to a new horse.
