The Soccer Boy
The ten-year-old Amil has one big dream: to become a professional soccer player. He comes from Sarajevo and has been living in Denmark for six years now. The worn football he bought in Sarajevo is his most precious possession. His team was recently promoted to the first division, which is why they have bought real shirts with long sleeves and their names on the backs. Amil prepares himself for the first match by drawing the line-up on paper. Together with his team’s captain, he talks mainly about the captain’s new brace, that he can go on about for hours, much to Amil’s weariness. Amil’s friend Yunus also plays soccer, but for a rival team from the neighbourhood. They will soon play each other in a match. Of course, Amil tries to be better than Yunus, but things do not always turn out the way Amil would want them to.
