Why does one immigrant succeed in building up a flourishing existence in his new homeland, while the other has to end his days in a ghetto of misery and poverty? With this question as her starting point, filmmaker Eglantine Charbonnier portrays three brothers of Algerian extraction who have made a new life for themselves as successful businessmen. Coming from a poor neighbourhood in the provincial town of Chateauroux, they finished their education at a private Catholic school and went to Paris to seek their fortune. In her film, Charbonnier examines whether the three men’s education has contributed to their prosperity and concludes that even the highest possible degree of assimilation does not guarantee a life without racism or prejudice.
