The Swedish voiceover with which begins is as dry as the Spanish interior where the film is set. Orson Welles must have felt at home here, as he showed great interest in this intractable region, and particularly in the local population. With , director Kristian Petri has initiated a fascinating investigation. At a dreamy tempo, he follows Orson Welles's footsteps through villages and towns, searching for the locations and people that he used to know. Owing to the atmosphere and character of the landscape, the archival footage Welles shot himself, the beautiful anecdotes by the locals who considered him their big hero and especially the director's personal interpretation, unfolds into a strange road movie to the famous director's grave. Ultimately, the viewer is wondering if the film is about Orson Welles or the Spanish interior.
