Like ITSEMBATSEMBA ? RWANDA UN GÉNOCIDE PLUS TARD, BURUNDI SOUS LA TERREUR is an episode from a four-part series of films that filmmakers Alexis Cordesse and Eyal Sivan made about the refugee issue. Both in Rwanda and Burundi tension between the Hutu and Tutsi communities has led to bloody conflicts in recent years. Whereas in Ruanda the Tutsis are the oppressed group, in Burundi the Hutus are the minority. Due to the massive stream of refugees that from 1994 started drifting from Ruanda to neighbouring countries like Burundi, Zaire and Tanzania, the conflict in Burundi also boiled over. For fear of becoming the victims of a mass murder, like the Tutsis in Ruanda, a wave of terror also broke out in Burundi.
