Louis Lumière has gone down in history as a founder of the documentary. He has also managed to become a magnate in this type of film. The major part of Louis Lumière's early work consists of films that record topical matters, without involving conscious acting. The best known instance is probably in which Lumière films labourers leaving the factory. One of the exceptions is . In this film Louis Lumière shoots the good life in France, just before the turn of the century. Little André, and next to him his parents, Auguste Lumière and his wife, is enjoying his meal. The family is sitting outside at a lavishly laid table, in beautiful weather. And 'uncle Louis' is watching it all with his camera.
