Christopher Wants to Fly
His brother wants to become a professional soccer player, but Christopher has another dream: to fly. If his brother ever manages to buy a plane with that enormous salary, Christopher wants to be his pilot, but he's not there yet. Each day, the 11-year-old observes planes at his window and from the local snack bar, which is near the airport. Although he prefers to watch the planes take off and land on his own, there are lots of other interested parties occupying "his" place. "I concentrate better when I'm alone, when no one's talking to me," he explains in a serious tone. Christopher can also draw planes very well, for he examines them with eagle eyes as they take off, from up close and underneath. While we follow Christopher in his favourite pastime, he explains why the big one from British Airways is the most magnificent. We watch him and his friend, who also loves planes, play together and invariably argue over who gets "the British Airways." But Christopher also has classmates who are tired of hearing about planes. Only his cousin still listens to his adventures. Sometimes, if she's in a good mood, she even goes spotting with him.
