The Wave on the Shore
The inhabitants of the southern coastal area of Iran are fighting a bitter struggle for survival. Dire poverty reigns. Apart from fishing, there are few sources of income. To survive in these trying conditions, the people smuggle all kinds of goods across the border by boat. A rather risky way of doing business, as the police patrol frequently and do not hesitate to shoot with live ammunition when they spot smugglers. MOJ BAR SAHEL, a dramatised documentary, follows a nocturnal contraband operation. A number of men, on their way home, their boats loaded with contraband, have to flee when a police patrol spots them. Meanwhile, the women in the village back home are preparing a wedding. When everything is finished, they can only wait and hope that the men, among whom the bride’s brother, will come home safely.
