Anna's Story

Anna is a teenager who copes with the loss of her mother by emulating pop idol Britney Spears, who does everything Anna wouldn't do herself. Anna tells her story to the camera, either while sitting on the sofa in the living room, or in her own room (which is crammed full of Spears paraphernalia). Two years ago, when her mother got sick, Anna decided not to become a typical, troublesome teenager. She didn't want to cause her other mother -- her parents are lesbians -- even more problems. So she doesn't smoke weed with her classmates or drink too much, either. But while she moderates her behavior, Britney Spears does exactly the opposite. The singer makes headlines worldwide with all kinds of wild stunts: shaving her head, recklessly endangering her young son, and appearing for photographers with no underwear on. These well-known scenes from the pop star's life are reenacted, with a cartoon Spears at their heart, and interwoven with Anna's story. When Spears finally gets her life back on track, this acts as a signal for Anna to do the same.
