Tell Me What You Saw
is a journey through the mysterious world of memory and oblivion. The leitmotif of the film consists of World War II memories of five sisters, their brother and their senile mother. It is hard to believe that they have had the same experience, as there is a world of difference between their recollections. The film has a fragmentary structure by which it explores the memory, which according to filmmaker Kiti Luostarinen has the shape of a snail's shell. You descend into the depths of memory and revolve around the same events from different angles. Some experiences keep coming back, while others sink into a pool of oblivion. Luostarinen studied philosophy at Helsinki University before dedicating herself to making documentaries that often deal with philosophy, science and art.
