In the Dark

Miners in Yugoslavia used to be a very respected, even idolized profession. Their courage and hard work was taken as an example of what we could all become. Today forgotten by the public, and by the politicians, they work with equipment that is decades old, facing the chance of a tragedy every time they descend into the pit.

The film explores the metaphor of working in the dark, of 'switching off' in order to make it through the day. It provides us with a frame through which to observe life in Serbia today.
