Festival history

David McDermott and Peter McGough are not the most representative examples of the hip art world of New York. In the decade of their cooperation they have been mainly inspired by a longing for the past, both in their lives and in their work. The film shows to what extent life and work of both artists are interwoven and are subservient to their almost philosophical concept of time. We watch them waking up and emptying pisspots and washbasins through the window, or mending their almost antique clothes. These scenes are intercut with interviews with art historians and collectors, and with fellow dandy Quentin Crisp. Barbara Politsch has made a portrait of two artists who see life as one continuous performance.
