Festival history

V zahrade starts with a quote from the 19th century writer Emily Dickinson: "Ihear a silent sound in the garden and I let people listen". In the course of the film themeaning of these words becomes clear. Filmmaker Ivan Vojnár depicts the life of anumber of patients in an old mental hospital, located in a beautiful park?like garden. The filmmaker listens intently to the patients, who alternate their incoherent storieswith lucid views. A woman believes that her family consists of 280 children, a mantalks incoherently about God, and another is afraid that aliens want to force him tocommit suicide. But yet another man tells about the destructive influence on hispersonality of his lengthy stay in the institution. If you listen carefully, behind all thesestories you will hear the 'silent sound' of agonising loneliness.
