Veroordeeld: trouwen
Filmmaker Roel van Dalen and cameraman Mark Bakker stayed in the prison ofMaastricht for eight months. The result is a series in six parts about life in prison. Themakers were not interested in the offences committed by the delinquents, but rather inthe daily life in prison. Issues they deal with are feelings like hope and despair, powerlessness, anger and the urge to survive. Are jail sentences in their present formuseful? Central figures in the film are the people who are forced to live with eachother: prisoners and guards. Trouwen is one episode from the series. Maastrichtprison has a men's and a women's wing. The inmates in both wards can see eachother from a large distance and it is also possible to send each other letters.Sometimes 'prison marriages' come about.
