Je gelooft 't niet
Je gelooft 't niet deals with sexual abuse outside the family. Every year thousands of children, both boys and girls, are sexually abused by a teacher, a soccer coach, a neighbour or a good friend of the family. Netty van Hoorn investigated the circumstances and distressing consequences of three specific cases. In her film she has very candid conversations with both parents and children involved. Gert Jan, for example, was regularly taken out by a friendly man at the camp site where he spent his holidays with his parents. Years later it became clear that these little outings had not been as nice as they had seemed at the time. We also hear the story of 'grandpa', an old man to whom children from the neighbourhood often went to watch TV, until people found out that he had sexually abused several of his young visitors. This is a film about the children's reticence, the parents' disbelief and bewilderment, about unrecognised signals and deceived trust.
