Tenancy
It has been 28 years since the Islamic Revolution took place, but the government that promised to be more social than the shah has yet to find a solution for the housing shortage in Tehran. Parents live with their children in dwellings. No wonder that some roommates, no matter how close the family ties may be, are occasionally driving each other up the wall. But there are other reasons why occupants get sent packing: the landlord might want to use the space as a garage, or perhaps he decides to double the rent, and the current tenants cannot afford the increase. In lively, direct cinema style, the camera captures the violent arguments. Women shriek with a vengeance, men will no longer stand for it. Disturbances arise, only to be quelled by police intervention. Once everyone has calmed down, it remains unclear where the evicted people will spend the night. After all, the city housing department does little else besides granting permission to evict.
